Portrait of Mary

This is my first serious portrait of Mary Kathryn. She's so beautiful she's worth spending 7 hours of painting.

(i love that Greg can illustrate to me what is in his head)

Blogspot's image posting quality sucks.

Take it for what it is, just imagine more contrast.

Pittsburgh Love

Mary came to visit me at school a few days ago, and I told her I would do some illustrations of some of our very best times during those two amazing days. Little did she know they were going to be cruddy illustrations, but here they are anyway. The subject matter is more important than the detail, so just keep that in mind. Art school sure is paying off. These are only a few illustrations, more will come later.

These wouldn't make sense to anyone else but us.

Danel Day-Lewis (Daniel Plainview)

I waste my life on crap like this.

Scrooge

He turned out looking a little like a mix between Partrick Stewart and Ralph Waldo Emerson. Not a bad combination for anyone. Except if you're Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Speaking of which, Patrick Stewart wasn't always completely hairless, he chooses to look that way.

George

Dear Mr. Washington,

You're not worth very much these days. You can't get a whole lot for a dollar anymore. But hey, the quarter is doing well; we still like flicking those into wells and fountains.

Sincerely,

Greg

Ahoy

Mary knows how much I want to be a sailor when i retire from this design gig. But as everyone knows, sailors aren't very visually appealing. So, I decided to show her what I would look like as an older seaman; and I also threw in some mutton chops and a receding hair line for some extra flair. Personally, I think I would make a darn good sailor. Some people just have the look.

This is what she gets to look forward too.

Personify - Part 1

First attempt at painting any animal. Detail is good, but bearly.
