Happy 91st Birthday Yesterday

Virginia Purvis (aka Ginny), turned 91 yesterday.

I met and started working for Virginia the summer i turned 13, doing gardening. When the weather turned cold i moved from the yard work to house work. As more time went on I started doing more personal care giver work, until she had people move in with her who could do it full time. I worked for her from the time i was 13-17.

Over that time we have become good friends. She has taught me everything I know about gardening, and loads about housekeeping, and life in general.

She loves Halloween, and loves that her birthday is just a few days before it. There ended up being a party at her house. The whole mantel was filled with cards. She had several boutiques of flowers on the cocktail table, and lots of tasty treats.

Virginia's good friend, who she refers to as "Bay Village Kate" (to distinguish from the other Kate's) tells a lot of jokes. She did most of the talking because she forgot her hearing aid and couldn't stand being left out of any conversation. Virginia kept telling Kate to tell some of her dirty jokes. I don't know the last time i laughed so hard in one afternoon.

I think Virginia had a good 91st birthday celebration!
